Nursery Assistant – Saffron Walden

Job Description:

Part Time: 25-30 Hours per week

Salary: £12.00 - £14.00 per hour depending on qualifications

No qualifications needed but experience is required or NVQ 2/NVQ3

An exciting opportunity has come up to work as a Nursery Assistant in a well-established nursery located near Saffron Walden. The nursery is less than a ten minutes’ drive from the centre of Saffron Walden.

The Nursery Assistant will be working with an Early Years Practitioner for the daily needs of children between the ages of birth and three years within the Nursery settings.

Duties:

• Assist with any preparations of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the Nursery under the guidance of other members of staff.
• Familiarise yourself with the different children and learn to know when to include yourself in their play.  Keep an eye on children who may need one to one attention or need a sensitive person to encourage them to play. 
• Work alongside your Nursery manager and begin to learn and understand the responsibilities that parents have with children who have special needs. Try to offer physical and emotional support as appropriate.
• Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
• Observe children closely and document any important milestone which may have not been seen by the child’s keyworker.
• Attend staff meetings outside working hours
• Undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, for example, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment (including the bathrooms)
• To attend out of working hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, parent's afternoons.
• Recording accidents/incidents in the books provided
• Ensure child is collected by someone known to the setting
• To respect the confidentiality of information received
